Olivia, an Oxalis Triangularis or Purple Shamrock, is a rare plant with beautiful butterfly shaped purple leaves that close at night and open again in the morning.
Native to several countries around Southern America, Olivia loves to show off small trumpet like flowers during spring and summer, which believe it or not, are edible!
Olivia, Oxalis Triangularis - Small
Olivia prefers indirect light to partial shade, without prolonged exposure to direct sun - a touch of morning sunlight wouldn’t go a miss.
If you’re not sure what level of light you have, check the shadows cast by your plant:
- Minimal shadow = lower light
- Half shadow = indirect light
- Full shadow = direct sun
